The Central Kentucky Network of Baptists (CKNB) is excited to share that our Barnabas Team’s church revitalization work was recently featured in Baptist Press!

For several years, the CKNB Barnabas Team has assisted struggling churches, helping them assess and chart a path toward regaining health, vitality and sustainability. The article highlights our recent work with First Baptist Church of Danville, which recently voted to enter an adoption partnership with Ashland Avenue Baptist Church in Lexington. This model aims to strengthen First Baptist Danville and relaunch it in the future as a thriving, autonomous congregation.

CKNB leaders David Stokes and David Barron, alongside Barnabas Team members, Steve Bruce, CJ Pearce and Derek Holmes (who also serve as local pastors within our Network) served in various stages throughout the transition process, emphasizing that “when a church is brought back to health, we all win.” The Kentucky Baptist Convention will also come alongside as a partner providing support to ensure long-term success.

Ashland Avenue's Todd Martin will lead the Danville congregation as Pastor, preaching his first sermon on March 2.

We’re honored to see this work recognized nationally and remain committed to strengthening churches for the Great Commission.
