NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. | Five decades of faithful service, community outreach, and gospel ministry will be celebrated next weekend as Crosswoods Baptist Church marks its 50th Anniversary with a special Open House on Saturday, September 26th and Worship Celebration and Banquet to follow on Sunday, the 27th.

Located at 4991 Harrodsburg Road in Nicholasville, Crosswoods is inviting current and former members, friends, neighbors, and fellow believers from throughout Central Kentucky to join the church family for this special milestone celebration.

Fifty Years of Faithfulness

The story of Crosswoods began 50 years ago with approximately 40 people who shared a desire to establish a church that would reach their part of Jessamine County with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The congregation’s earliest days included gathering in a barn before eventually establishing its permanent home along Harrodsburg Road.

Over the decades, that original vision has grown into a multigenerational ministry serving families throughout Jessamine County and beyond.

Crosswoods describes its mission through the priorities of Proclaim, Praise, Participate, and Promote, seeking to glorify God by leading people to Jesus Christ and making disciples. Today, its ministries reach children, students, college students, adults, and senior adults, along with a dedicated ministry for the Deaf.

The church also continues to look beyond its walls through local outreach and missions. Its C3 Ministry — Crosswoods, Community, and Compassion — has provided opportunities to serve students, teachers, and families at Rosenwald-Dunbar Elementary School and others throughout the surrounding community.

Celebrating a Legacy — and Looking Ahead

For many years, Crosswoods has been led by Pastor Steve Bruce, whose ministry has spanned a significant portion of the congregation’s story.

Through seasons of growth, expansion, change, and new ministry opportunities, Bruce has continued to encourage Crosswoods to embrace what he has described as a “Kingdom Vision” for its place in the community.

“God has been preparing us over the life of this church,” Bruce has shared. “Crosswoods Baptist Church exists to glorify God by leading people to Jesus Christ and making disciples.”

That forward-looking spirit makes the church’s golden anniversary more than simply an opportunity to remember the past. It is also an occasion to celebrate God’s faithfulness and renew the congregation’s commitment to its mission for the years ahead.

Join the 50th Anniversary Celebration

All of the anniversary events are free and open to the public. Former members, friends of the congregation, neighboring churches, and members of the community are encouraged to come and celebrate with the Crosswoods family.

The anniversary weekend schedule includes:

  • 50th Anniversary Open House - Saturday, Sept. 26th from 2pm-4pm This will be a special time of fellowship and singing while guests may drop in throughout the event and peruse the historical photos and items along with taking a tour of the facility which has grown over the 50 year history.

  • Anniversary Celebration Sunday - Sunday, Sept. 27th at 10:00am Join with the congregation of Crosswoods as they celebrate the Lord's goodness! Please note the special time, which differs from their normally scheduled Sunday start time. After the service, a special banquet will be held at the Campbell Houe in Lexington.

While all of the celebration events are open to the public, advance RSVP is required for those planning to attend the anniversary meal following the morning worship service. Reservations can be made through the Crosswoods Baptist Church website.

Congratulations from CKNB

All of us at the Central Kentucky Network of Baptists extend our heartfelt congratulations to Pastor Steve Bruce, the staff, leadership, and entire Crosswoods Baptist Church family as they celebrate 50 years of ministry.

A church’s 50th anniversary represents far more than the passing of time. It tells the story of generations of believers who have worshiped together, prayed together, taught children and students, cared for neighbors, supported missions, shared the gospel, walked alongside one another through life's joys and sorrows, and invested themselves in the work of the Great Commission.

We give thanks to God for the ministry and partnership of Crosswoods Baptist Church and for the congregation’s faithful witness in Nicholasville, Jessamine County, and beyond.

As Crosswoods remembers what God has done over the past half-century, churches throughout the CKNB join them in celebrating His faithfulness — and in praying with anticipation for all that He will continue to accomplish through Crosswoods in the years to come.

Congratulations, Crosswoods Baptist Church, on 50 years of ministry!
