ree

The Elkhorn Women's Missionary Union (WMU) invites you to a meaningful event: the World Day of Prayer. This special gathering occurs on Saturday, November 1st, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, located at 237 East 5th Street, Lexington. Join us as we unite in prayer for the needs of our world.

This event is a wonderful opportunity for women to come together to pray. We will focus on pressing issues that women and families face globally. By breaking into the seven continental unions identified by the Women's Department of the Baptist World Alliance, we will connect with diverse prayer requests and share in a heartfelt dialogue. Your participation is essential to cultivate community and common purpose.

What to Expect

During the World Day of Prayer, participants will explore specific challenges and opportunities faced by women worldwide. Each continental union will present unique prayer needs, helping us pray with intention and understanding.

For example, women in Europe are currently calling for prayers related to refugees and displaced families, while those in Africa may highlight educational inequalities affecting girls. This structured approach provides an opportunity to learn and respond actively to the global Baptist community's needs, fostering awareness of the varied experiences of women.

Whether you are a seasoned prayer warrior or just beginning your journey, this event is open to everyone who wishes to come together in prayer.

The Importance of Prayer

Prayer is a potent tool that connects us across distances. It allows us to express our hopes and concerns, not only for ourselves but for others. The World Day of Prayer reminds us of our shared responsibility to intercede for those in need.

Statistics show that 85% of people who pray believe it impacts their mental well-being. As we gather to pray, we will realize the strength gained from community. Each voice matters; together, we can form a powerful chorus of hope that resonates far beyond our local surroundings.

Why You Should Attend

Your participation in the World Day of Prayer is vital. By attending, you contribute to a global movement that enriches your spiritual journey. Moreover, you can connect with other women who share your passion for prayer and service.

Attending this event will shed light on specific needs across different regions, enhancing your understanding of the global church. This knowledge may inspire you to take action locally, creating a spirit of outreach and support in your own community.

For example, after attending similar events, women have reported starting local food drives or participating in educational initiatives to support underprivileged girls in their areas.

How to Prepare

To make the most of your World Day of Prayer experience, consider these simple steps:

  • Pray in Advance: Spend a few quiet moments in personal prayer leading up to the event. Ask God to open your heart and guide you during the gathering.

  • Bring a Journal: Consider bringing a journal to jot down insights and reflections. This will help you process your experience and keep track of specific prayer requests.

Make sure to approach the event with an open mind. Listen and engage with the stories shared by others.
