This past Tuesday, pastors and church leaders from across the Central Kentucky Network of Baptists gathered at Crosswoods Baptist Church in Nicholasville for the monthly Equip Leadership Lunch. It was a time of reconnecting after the summer, enjoying a Chick-Fil-A box lunch, and fellowshipping together around the table.
The highlight of the gathering was hearing from Richard Nelson of the Commonwealth Policy Center (CPC). The Commonwealth Policy Center is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization committed to promoting biblical values in the public square. Their mission is to keep Christians informed about current issues, policies, and legislation being debated in Frankfort, and to encourage thoughtful, Christ-centered civic engagement.
Richard shared updates on several pieces of legislation currently before the Kentucky chamber that could directly affect church life and ministry in our state. He also spoke about how CPC seeks to come alongside churches and ministries—providing resources, analysis, and guidance to help leaders understand the legal and cultural landscape as it relates to gospel ministry. In a time when laws and policies are shifting rapidly, CPC plays a vital role in equipping believers to engage wisely and faithfully.
The conversation was both practical and encouraging, with many attendees leaving more informed and better prepared to shepherd their congregations through the challenges and opportunities of today’s cultural climate.
The Equip Leadership Lunch once again proved to be a valuable space for pastors and leaders—not just for fellowship, but also for receiving timely insights that impact local church ministry.
