The world was met once again on Monday with news of yet another school shooting -- this time at Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee. 28 year-old Audrey Hale, a former student at Covenant, entered the school by shooting out a glass entrance door and proceeded to open fire inside, killing three faculty members and three students, all 9 years old.
Among the victims was Hallie Scruggs. Hallie is the daughter of Chad Scruggs, who serves as the Pastor at Covenant Church, the church which operates and houses Covenant School on their property.
As the nation continues to respond to this most recent tragedy with prayer and support, it is near impossible to imagine the grief and pain the families of all the victims are currently experiencing, including the Scruggs family. As a Pastor, Chad now stands in a space to help comfort the broken in the community, the families in the school, and the members in his congregation all while grieving the personal pain and loss of his own daughter.
Please join in prayer for the Covenant Church & School community and for the Scruggs family during this unspeakably tragic time. Though we may now see dimly through faded lenses, we live in the express hope that we will one day see the glory of our Lord face to face. In that moment, we will be healed. Until then, we await the promise that, "Our Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." (Psalm 34:18)
